Anil Murthy: “We're ready for a new season full of exciting challenges”
Marking his second anniversary at the helm of the club, the Valencia CF president prioritizes ''consensus, union and stability'' so that the club continues to grow atletically, socially and economically in a season that will be ''difficult, demanding and will require yet again that everyone works together.''
Since the arrival of Anil Murthy as Valencia CF president on 1 July 2017, the club has seen positive growth and results: a title win this season - the 8th Copa del Rey in its 100 years of history - and has also made its way back into elite competition in Europe, qualifying for the second year in a row for the Champions League. It hasn't been an easy road, but the club is looking towards the future and is, as Anil Murthy noted to VCF MEDIA, ''ready for a new season full of exciting challenges.''
Kicking off the 2019-20 season, the keys will continue to be ''stability, union and a consensus in decision-making to continue growing in every aspect throughout the season. Another demanding season in which the stability and union of the entire club will be fundamental in order to continue improving, starting with a foundation of sustainability and smart decisions, with an innovative approach.''
In this new season, Valencia CF will face four different competitions, including the 'Supercopa', and, on top of defending its Copa del Rey title, ''strengthening its position among the best in Europe, the Champions League, will be one of the primary objectives to continue growing. This year we achieved a lot, with fantastic performance on the pitch and great success, but this new season will be difficult, demanding and will require yet again that everyone works together.''
Alongside the challenges on the pitch, the objective of pushing forward with the club's digital transformation to connect even more with the fans and improve their experience is another key priority looking at the season ahead. Improving the social aspect and community experience at Mestalla and eliminating any type of violence definitively will also be a key focus.
On the financial side, after the demands placed on economic management by the restrictions made by FIFA, in the 2019/20 campaign Valencia CF will work to take important steps forward in the fundamental project of our change of stadium, as well as reaching a favourable conclusion to situations involving the European Union and Porchinos.
